Is it Spring yet?

Every morning, after hubby leaves for work, I get my cup of coffee and head for the computer. Mornings are the best time for business paperwork, looking for new ideas and mindless web surfing. It's also very dark at 5am and I just can't get into the mode of working until it's light. While I'm working, my back is toward the window, so imagine my surprise when I turned around......

IT'S SNOWING!!!! Big huge, fluffy flakes and it appears it's going to stick. Just yesterday I inventoried my yard for what plants needed de-heading, trimming, or replacement. I found I needed a few more primroses for the bathtub in the back yard and was planning on planting the new plants today. I think I'll hold off for a bit. I don't pay much attention to the weather so don't know if this is just a surprise for me or everyone. I guess I should have known as my mother told me it was "blizzard like" snowing when I was born, and March is my birthday month.

But, there is good news. Spring IS coming, or at least the plants and birds think so. We have red winged blackbirds filling our holly trees and their singing is amazing. Our fruit trees have been budding for weeks, the peach is always the first and is doing quite nicely this year. I peaked under some leaves and was so excited to see that the rhubarb plant is poking out. So are the bleeding hearts, and many other plants. We have many plants that just plant themselves and they are really gearing up for Spring. Daffodils, crocus, columbine, and these little white star flower things that we don't know what they are. When they bloom, I'll take a picture of them and maybe find out what they are really called.
